Giggy Story

Around about 1992, a friend gave me home-baked dog treats for my Yorkie.  Easton thought the results were acceptable, but when I tasted them, I thought I could do better.  I did some research into what's good for dogs, experimented a bit, and came up with some baked treats that I liked as much as Easton did.  Other friends' dogs liked them, too, so I gave them as gifts and started selling Stephanie's Gourmet Dog Biscuits at flea markets and fairs.

The business grew over the next few years, and the internet presented some excellent opportunities around that time.  We developed healthy, great-tasting treat recipes in our home kitchen and sold good treats for good dogs through the website.  We were soon selling treats around the country and spending all our spare time making and shipping dog treats.  The business was renamed Giggybites (after our Chihuahua, Gigabyte).
Giggybites Bakery and Marketplace for dogs opened in Chadds Ford in 2007.  Since then, we've built a fun and thoughtful community of folks who want to feed their dogs the best stuff available.

Mission

The mission of Giggybites is to enhance the lives of our customers and their dogs by providing advice, resources and a community of like-minded dog owners.

We do this by knowing our products and staying informed about what’s best for dogs at every stage of their life.  We want our people and their pets to enjoy long, healthy lives together.

Meet Our Team

Harry, Yorkshire Terrier, 2010

We like to think that Harry was made especially for Giggybites. He was the lone puppy in his mom’s last litter, which, by default, made him the pick of the litter! Harry understands well what it means to be Giggybites “store dog”, and he takes the charge seriously. You can find him in the store mostly on weekdays, gladly sharing his toys and playing with our guests.

Gigabyte, Long-Haired Chihuahua, 2001

Gig is not an old dog, but she’d still rather not learn any new tricks, or any tricks at all. No matter, she goes through Oatmeal Peanut Butter Training Treats like they’re, well, candy. Gig is the smallest member of the team, but clearly the leader, since her name is on the company.

Sophie, Boxer, 2006

Sophie depends on her good looks to get by, and so far it’s worked wonderfully for her. She’s great friends with Kallie, and gladly shares the bakery “mistakes” that end up in the Sophie Bucket. She’s also the fastest runner in her yard, because she has the longest legs.

Kallie, Hound Mix, 2009

Kallie and her 10-member clan came from a rescue group in Georgia, and she was being fostered by Hanna's Bed & Biscuit when we met her. Kallie aka The Spotted One, is the most athletic dog we have ever had - she jumps, climbs and straddles anything she can. Kallie will also never go hungry again, although her fence-jumping habit could get her lost for days at a time.

Jack, Yorkshire Terrier, 2006-2009

Jack was a special dude, and he will long be remembered as the best ever store dog. He holds a special place in our hearts, and that picture of him in the bumble bee costume is a classic. He was also the force behind our soon to be world famous Jack's Jerky line of treats.
